New restaurant featuring mochi donuts, Vietnamese desserts and more comes to Columbus

Jack McLaughlin

Mochi donuts are popping at an increasing number of Columbus eateries, and we’re not mad about it.

The newest spot on that list is PhoVLov Cafe, a Vietnamese eatery located at 1157 Kenny Center Mall on the city’s northwest side.

And what exactly is a mochi donut? We’re glad you asked.

Made with tapioca or rice flour, this sweet treat (which was popularized in Japan and Korea) creates a donut that’s fluffy but still chewy.Mochi donuts are also available locally at spots like The Mochi Shop, a bakery with an online-based ordering systems that offers weekly pickups, and the recently-opened location of TeaMoji.

PhoVLov Cafe offers more than just these unique sweet treats as well. The new eatery also serves authentic pho, speciality drinks and homemade Vietnamese desserts.

The restaurant is open 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Wednesday through Monday. It is closed on Tuesday.
