If all goes according to plan, Delaware will have a brand-new spot for smash burgers and more by this summer.

Smash Shack Burger Co. is slated to open in late spring and early summer, according to owner Jesse S. The carryout-focused eatery will be located at 81 Lake St. in Delaware.

“Delaware didn’t really have a location for fast, quality burgers, that’s what we want this to be,” Jesse said.

Diners can expect never-frozen smash burgers made with Ohio beef, all-beef hot dogs, chicken wings, mac and cheese, waffle fries, and several rotating desserts. The concept adopted a concise menu to keep service fast and allow for larger orders for parties and events.

“We want to be scalable in case someone needs 30 hot dogs, or 30 burgers for a party,” Jesse said.

The new smash burger hub isn’t the only new dining option on its way to Delaware, either. Sandbar Station, which took over the Homestead taproom inside the former Delaware Food Truck Depot, plans to bring its own weekday menu to diners, alongside 10 weekend food trucks and even a new outdoor stage for live music.

Jesse S. also noted more exciting development may be on the way for Downtown Delaware. 614Now will report on this when more information becomes available.
