Owners of Columbus-area burger concept opening new market and sandwich shop

While Hilliard’s Center Street Market lost a pair of vendors earlier this year, a unique new concept is set to take their places.

According to co-owner John Ciardelli, Norwich Grocery is planning to open in Center Street Market sometime next month.

Norwich Grocery, which will take over the space previously occupied by Al’s Delicious Popcorn and Two Step Tacos, will offer a variety of snacks and goods from local vendors, in addition to artisan sandwiches, soups, salads and more.

The full menu hasn’t been unveiled yet, but Ciardelli said it will offer muffaletta sandwiches, Reubens, wraps and more.

“We were first going to do just a snack shop only, but with Two Step Taco leaving, we looked at what we thought the market was missing, and what people would want to have,” he said.

The space will be half sandwich shop, half marketplace, with the latter offering Al’s Delicious Popcorn and a variety of other Columbus-made products.
