Popular Detroit-based restaurant known for ‘Jerk Chicken Big Macs’ opening Columbus location

With home-cooked menu items like Spiced Rubbed Chicken and Waffles and Plantain Burgers, it’s no wonder that this Detroit-based small business has established itself as having some of the best Afro-Caribbean food around.

Yum Village, a popular restaurant with three locations in Detroit and one in Cleveland, announced on their social media that they’re joining us here in Columbus, too. They’ll have a take-out only location (for now!) at 1282 Essex Ave. inside of Columbus Food Hall, with a goal of opening in late January.

This eatery specializes in West African “soul food,” with a Caribbean and Haitian twist, mixing authenticity with fun. You can of course order traditional African food, such as Fufu, Jollof Rice, and Yam Stew, but also, Jerk Naan Tacos, BBQ Jerk burgers, Afro-fries, and their own version of a Big Mac using Jerk Chicken instead of beef.

You can also make your own customized bowls here, choosing which type of rice, proteins, and vegetable toppings you’d like.

We know where we’ll be this January!
