National competitor to Sheetz is coming to Ohio; dozens of locations in the works

It’s been several years since Sheetz arrived in Ohio, and it’s only natural that Wawa isn’t far behind.

Late last week, Wawa, the national gas station and made to order food concept—which often receives comparisons to Sheetz—announced its plan to bring approximately 60 different locations to the Buckeye State over the next 8-10 years.

Wawa plans to build locations in Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Greene, Hamilton, Miami, Montgomery and Warren Counties. Currently, there are no locations slated for Franklin County.

“We were thrilled to share our ‘flight plan’ for Ohio and reveal, for the very first time, our exciting expansion plans, renderings and more with our newest soon-to-be neighbors,” said Joe Collins, Director of Store Operations for Wawa in a press release.

The first Ohio Wawa stores are scheduled to break ground in mid-2024, and the concept is eyeing mid-2025 for its first grand opening in the state. Wawa plans to open 10 stores in both 2025 and 2026, and five additional stores in the following years.
