Soon-to-close coffee shop launches ‘Golden Bear Center RIP’ shirts to raise money for potential new location

Don’t count out Colin’s Coffee.

The popular Upper Arlington spot for breakfast and coffee will be closing its storefront on Aug. 20, but now it appears the shop could (eventually) find a new home.

Yesterday, Colin’s Coffee announced the release of a new T-shirt on its Instagram page displaying a sense of humor about its impending closure. Colin’s, which is located in Upper Arlington’s Golden Bear Center, will be closing in the face of a redevelopment project coming to the shopping center. The shirt depicts a (golden-colored) bear with an arrow in it, and the text “Colin’s Coffee, Golden Bear Center, Rest in Peace 1966-2023.” The dates refer to the life of the shopping center, which was first built in 1966.

In addition to a sense of humor, the new shirt displays another interesting piece of information as well: Colin’s is exploring new locations. No details about where the coffee shop’s new location might be located were shared.

The shirts, which will go on sale today, cost $30, and proceeds from sales will go toward the coffee shop’s move to a new location.
