Speciality cake shop and bakery opens first-ever brick and mortar storefront downtown

A new cake shop and bakery has officially opened its doors in Downtown Columbus.

According to owner Adrian Jones, Kennedy’s Kakes held  the grand opening of its new Downtown space on July 6. The bakery is located at 310 S. High St., in the corner storefront connected to the Westin Great Southern Columbus hotel.

According to Jones, Kennedy’s Kakes started in 2010 as a home bakery, before taking over a commercial kitchen space several years ago.

The concept’s new brick and mortar home allows for the same custom work Kennedy’s has done, in addition to a display case full of baked goods that customers can purchase individually.

“The reception has been great, with more people walking in off the street. They have access from the hotel as well, we’re getting customers from both directions,” Jones said. “We’ve had a steady stream since we opened.”
