A standout Columbus sandwich has surpassed an impressive milestone.

According to a social media statement Fox in the Snow posted late last week, its Souffled Egg Sandwich has now been sold more than 500,000 times since the eatery first opened its doors in 2014.

According to the restaurant, while the sandwich was always planned as a cornerstone item, its explosive popularity was not initially accounted for.

“The original Fox in the Snow business plan had us (hopefully) selling 24 egg sandwiches a day. These days, we sell that many in the first 5 minutes we’re open and have sold more than HALF A MILLION of them since we opened our doors,” the statement reads. “Thank you for continuing to love this simple, perfect, and ever popular breakfast sandwich.”

The eatery’s Souffled Egg Sandwich, which features souffled egg, candied bacon, Swiss, arugula and a dijon cream sauce, is priced at $9.50, according to its website.

The popular bakery and cafe concept has plans to expand its sandwich offerings in the near future as well. According to owners Lauren Culley and Jeff Excell, who own both Fox in the Snow and Icarus Sandwich Shop, the latter will be temporarily closing in late January. Fox in the Snow locations will begin selling versions of the Icarus sandwiches in February.
