A unique new cafe concept that’s doubling as a community-focused nonprofit has opened for business on the south side.

The South End Cafe, which is located at 1951 Parsons Ave., opened its doors on Feb. 20

The concept, which was launched by Community Development for All People, a prolific Columbus-based non-profit, will function as part cafe and coffee roastery, part workforce development nonprofit, teaching life and vocational skills to its staff members.

“The Café is designed to provide good-paying jobs to those who are having a hard time finding employment, such as returning citizens and those who have been out of the workforce for an extended period of time,” a press release from Community Development for All People reads.

The South End Cafe plans to hire individuals with little or no work experience, in order to help them leverage their new job history and skills into a full-time job of their own.
