Wing wars: Columbus chicken wing competitor throws shade at Roosters

Here in Columbus, we love some good-humored jabbing almost as much as we love chicken wings. 

So when one local eatery does both of those well, we pay attention.

Lovell’s Tavern, the southeast side spot that’s been slinging top-tier wings since the year 2000, is taking to a competitor, and everyone’s invited to watch.

Here’s a picture of what their marquee signage currently looks like:

According to employee Chelsea Kurto, while the sign is all in good fun, Lovell’s does stand by the message. When asked if she thinks Lovell’s has the best wings in Columbus, there wasn’t a need for many words.

“Absolutely,” she said.

Kurto said the most popular wing sauce is the house-made Cajun Honey, but there are more than a dozen to choose from, including Sriracha, Lemon Pepper, Carolina Gold and more.
