Zebra Cakes, Cosmic Brownie, Nutty Bars and more: Columbus bakery recreates nostalgic treats for 10th anniversary
A popular Columbus bakery is turning ten years old, but it looks like we’re the ones getting the presents.
According to Bake Me Happy co-owner Wendy Miller Pugh, a handful of exclusive items will be available at the concept’s Merion Village-area and North Market Bridge Parks stores Oct. 28 only, and like all of their treats, they’ll be entirely gluten-free.
Inspired by nostalgic snacks so many of us enjoyed years ago, Bake Me Happy refers to the event as Nostalgic Treat Saturday. It has been occurring annually for the last six years as an anniversary celebration.

While Bake Me Happy always offers nostalgic items like Oatmeal Creme Clouds, Zebra Cakes (and occasionally offers Moon Pies and Cosmic Brownies), the event will also feature a handful of treats exclusive to the concept’s birthday, including Nutty Bars, Star Crunch and Zingers.
Other items offered on Nostalgic Treat Saturday include Pop Tarts, King Dongs, Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats, Snowballs, Nutty Buddies and more.
“When you need to eat gluten free, you always seem to focus on the things you can’t have, so this is a way to have some delicious goodies that everyone can eat,” said Miller Pugh. “We have adults who are super excited that their gluten free kids can enjoy the treats they’ve never been able to eat before and we have people who just love our goodies and say they taste WAY better than the originals and don’t need to eat gluten free.”
Keep an eye out for gift card and treat giveaways in the weeks leading up to Bake Me Happy’s birthday celebration as well.
