Police: Ohio man calls 911 on Subway employee after sandwich order leads to argument

Earlier this month, a man called 911 on a Subway employee after he believed he had been treated poorly.

According to a police report obtained by 614Now, on June 7 officers were called to the Subway restaurant located inside of a Pilot Travel Center at 5219 Brecksville Rd. in Richfield.

The report says a man called 911 after he ordered a sandwich, walked to the drink cooler, and came back to find the sandwich wrapped up when he returned.

“This upset [the caller] because he was never asked what he would like on the sandwich or if he wanted it toasted,” the report reads. According to the Subway clerk per the police report, the customer asked for “an Italian sub with lettuce and tomato and walked over to the cooler.”

A verbal argument started shortly afterwards, and the caller believed he received poor service because he is Black, the report reads. The caller then threw the sub into the garbage, and the employee asked him to leave the store.

Police told the caller to file a formal complaint with Subway if he felt he was mistreated. No further action was taken by police.
