From bars to gas stations, these 9 central Ohio businesses could lose their liquor licenses

There’s been a streak of violence occurring at establishments that serve alcohol (and no, not just bars), and City Council is trying to combat this to hopefully improve public safety and save lives. Taking away liquor licenses could potentially help.

On Tuesday, November 28th, the City’s Public Safety Committee met to discuss liquor-permitted businesses that often violate city codes, and are continuously involved in violent crimes.

There were nine businesses in total that were suggested to lose their liquor licenses:

  • Jack’s Corner Pub – 2480 Summit Street, Columbus, OH 43202
  • Pakk Lounge – 1109 W. Rich Street, Columbus, OH 43223
  • Pilot Travel Center 213 – 3600 Interchange Road, Columbus, OH 43204
  • X Gentleman’s Club – 6223-6225 Sunderland Drive, Columbus OH 43229
  • Sheetz 722 – 3999 S. Hamilton Road, Groveport, OH 43125
  • Sheetz 724 – 975 E. Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43229
  • Speedway 5235 – 635 E. Weber Road, Columbus, OH 43211
  • Speedway 9751 – 1165 S. High Street, Columbus, OH 43206
  • Double D’s – 1501 S. High Street, Columbus, OH 43207

On Monday, December 4th, the list will be heard in front of Columbus City Council. This doesn’t technically mean that the aforementioned businesses will lose their licenses; the Council’s decision will then go before the Ohio Liquor Commission, who makes the final call on whether or not the establishment can keep their liquor licenses or not. Stay tuned for the next steps in the process.
