Donut shop sign swap leaves Columbus temporarily confused

Jack McLaughlin

The donut shop located at 4480 Kenny Rd. in Columbus is in fact called HoneyDip Donuts & Diner, no matter what the signage in front of the northwest side shop currently says.

According to an Instagram post from HoneyDip, the longstanding Columbus eatery is in the process of updating its signage, a process that involves taking down pieces of the current sign. After this happened, however, they noticed a slight problem.

The sign for Jolly Pirate Donuts, which previously called their Kenny Road storefront home, became visible after the HoneyDip sign was removed.

The sign now reads as a mashup of the two names: Jolly Pirate Donuts & Diner.

HoneyDip Donuts addressed this in an Instagram story posted yesterday.

“Attention loyal customers: We’re in the process of repairing our sign. The HoneyDip sign was taken down for repair and the old Jolly Pirate sign was underneath. We hope the new sign will be up soon,” the story reads.

The Columbus donut shop and diner is currently closed until July 7 for an employee vacation.
