‘Outside Magazine’ names this Ohio city as one of the happiest in the country

Jack McLaughlin

According to Outside Magazine, one Ohio city has been tapped as one of the country, and it isn’t Columbus.

In story titled “The 15 Hapliest Places to Live in the U.S.,” the magazine include Cincinnati as one of the country’s 15 happiest cities.

Outside Magazine relied on a variety of metrics for its list, including Sharecare’s Community Well-Being Index, affordability, inclusivity and parkland present in each city.

While the story cited a number of factors for The Queen City’s unique position on the list,(including inclusivity, craft beer and its unique position at the intersection of the North, South and Midwest) Cinncinati’s high percentage of parkland, a thriving craft beer scene and its opportunities for outdoor recreation.

“Historically, the Queen City’s strategic position along the Ohio River made it an important stop on the Underground Railroad. Today that route and others are used by hikers and cyclists traveling the 2,008-mile Underground Railroad Bicycle Route, in addition to the 4,800-mile North Country National Scenic Trail. Paddlers can kayak for miles on the Little Miami River, which at times parallels the 78-mile, paved and shady Little Miami Scenic Trail,” the story reads.
