This Ohio interstate that runs through Cbus is the state’s deadliest road

From Louisville through Columbus and up to Cleveland, you’ll find one of the most notoriously dangerous roads in all of Ohio, and America, too.

Interstate 71, known in Columbus for the mass amount of car wrecks and even active shootings, has been found by SafeWise’s three years’ worth of data from The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to hold the highest fatality rate per mile of any other state in the rest of the country, according to Newton County News.

And according to data from MoneyGeek, the stretch between Exit 110B (11th Ave) and Exit 116 (Morse Rd.) on I-71 in Columbus is the deadliest stretch of road in all of Ohio. Franklin County has more deadly accidents than any other county in Ohio.

Here are the factors that contribute to I-71’s status of one of the deadliest roads, found on MoneyGeek and Newton County News:

  1. High Traffic Volume and Congestion
  2. Urban and Rural Variance
  3. Varied Weather and Road Conditions
  4. Drunk Driving: 32% of fatal accidents
  5. Speeding: 27% of fatal accidents

Stay safe out there, especially in these colder months.
