Denver-based ‘Waterless Water Park’ coming to Columbus

Sav McKee

For some, the water at local water parks isn’t the best part. They want in on the action – the slides, the tubes, the funnels – without getting wet.

If that sounds right up your alley, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear that Columbus’ first “Waterless Water Park” is coming to the Polaris area. The Denver-based Slick City Action Parks, which was founded in 2021, submitted their building plans for a 38,000 square-foot-space, and they confirmed they’d be opening at 1170 Polaris Parkway.

The action park utilizes inventors and patents to create new technology that allows guests to travel down slides at the same speed they would at waterparks. Gary Schmit invented the Slick Slide, which Slick City said brought “a new and exciting concept to the adventure park industry.”

Slick City features a variety of these patented slides, but also climbing activities, mini go-kart tracks, an “air court” for parkour tricks, a barrel roll, and more.

Right now, Slick City has action parks in Denver, Houston, and Peoria, AZ, as well as St. Louis. Their website shows there’s 15 more under construction, and 32 franchisee locations planned.

Columbus is listed to open in Spring of 2025! Anyone ages 5 & up are welcome to join in on the fun.
