Do you even lift? Here’s the best protein-rich dishes on campus

Anthony O'Connell

Do you even lift? That’s a question my gym-going buddies throw at me, well aware that my answer is a solid “no.” But there’s one thing we all agree on – protein-packed meals are an absolute feast. Whether you’re lifting weights or just lifting forks, join me as I dive into some of the best protein-rich dishes on campus.

Buckeye Donuts (1998 N High St)
Fuel up with the Traditional Gyro at Buckeye Donuts, amped up with extra meat for a protein-packed punch. This classic comes with crisp lettuce, fresh tomatoes, onions, and banana peppers. And don’t forget the extra sauce on the side – perfect for dipping or drizzling!

Traditions at Scott (160 W Woodruff Ave)
Eating for fuel? Grab a grilled chicken breast, go to the Salad Bar and load up your plate with hard-boiled eggs, quinoa, and chickpeas. Add some spinach, bell peppers, cucumbers, and top it off with hummus or cottage cheese as a healthy ‘dressing’. For a vegetarian twist, swap in tofu. It’s a power-packed meal that’s both delicious and nutritious.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY

Ethyl & Tank (19 E 13th Ave)
The OG Ethyl Burger! This grass-fed beef patty, ordered with an additional patty for good measure, is a meat lover’s dream. Topped with crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a chipotle aioli, all on a brioche bun. Pair it with a side salad (dressing on the side) for a perfectly rounded meal. Whether it’s salad or fries, it’s all about enjoying your food your way.

Cazuelas Mexican Cantina (2321 N High St)
Ready for a fiery challenge? Tackle the Mucho Macho Burrito. Packed with chicken or steak, rice, refried beans, and smothered in a super HOT habanero sauce, it’s a true test of your spice tolerance. Finish it in 20 minutes, and it’s on the house. It’s seriously hot, not for the faint of heart, but hey, sometimes the lure of a free burrito is just too strong!

Courtside Cafe (337 Annie and John Glenn Ave)
Craving chicken? Go for the chicken breasts – and why not double up? You’ll definitely want extra. Pair it with a large sautéed veggie, and voilà: you’ve got yourself a fit feast.
