Columbus carpenter creates $30K, King Arthur-inspired table

A Carpenter’s Son (ACS), the Worthington-based furniture maker, recently completed a custom wooden table for a Cleveland client.

And its price tag landed at a cool $30,000.

“We did a big office project for a company in Grove City, for the CEO, his office and boardroom table. He loved our work, and he hired us to build most epic dining room table that he could dream up,” said ACS founder and owner Josh Scheutzow.

The executive, who was not named, recently purchased a home in Cleveland, which the table will compliment as a “a King Arthur roundtable type piece,” according to Scheutzow.

Made from white oak, cherry, walnut and maple, the 800-pound table fetches such a serious price tag not because of its size, but because of the amount of detail work the project required.

“It has thousands of little inlays with contrasting pieces,” he said. “Hundreds of hours of hand detailed work went into this table. It turned into one of the most intricate pieces that our team has ever built. I’m incredibly proud of our team’s hard work and dedication putting it together.”

Brad Hosfeld designed the table over a six month period. Cain Lackey oversaw the build, with help from Rich Holtz. Its base was built by Luke Egan and Em Neighbarger, and finish work was done by Sadie Baumaker and Micheal Brereton.

ACS, who has done work for everything from Rockmill Brewery to the new Crew Stadium, recently relocated their studio space to Worthington.
