Columbus’ first ‘Oyster Festival’ coming to Downtown

Sav McKee

There’s an old wives’ tale that says oysters are at their very best only in the months that contain the letter “r” in them (so, basically, September through April).

And while oysters at Hank’s Seafood, one of the hottest new restaurants in Columbus, are always fresh and delicious, the restaurant wanted to celebrate the start of the fabled oyster season in a huge celebration, all revolving around – yes, you guessed it – oysters.

On Sunday, September 15 from 12-4, the outdoor festival hosted by Hank’s Seafood will take place beneath Janet Echelman’s “Current” sculpture, taking over the intersection of Gay and High Streets.

The festival will include live jazz music, oyster shucking, oyster roasting, and an array of Low Country, Southern-inspired dishes, plus wine, cold beer, and signature cocktails!

While access to the festival is completely free, the food and beverages can be purchased at the event! Expect fresh oysters, lobster rolls, tuna tartare, hush puppies, and all of the oysters you could imagine.

For more information, check out the festival’s website.
