Condé Nast Traveler names Columbus among the top 10 friendliest cities in entire nation – here’s why

Turns out, that Midwestern and Southern charm everyone talks about isn’t just all made up to make us feel better about not living on the West or East Coasts.

Condé Nast Traveler, a popular publication that also publishes Vogue, GQ, Architectural Digest, plus more, recently released their “Friendliest Cities in The U.S.” list, and none other than our great city is on there, among other Midwestern and Southern cities (with the exception of one South-western city).

Columbus, OH ranked the 7th friendliest city in the U.S., and Condé Nast speculates it could be because we’re so “well-fed.” They said, “In the past few years, this Midwest hub has emerged as a bonafide foodie destination—it’s always been known for its burgers (it was here, after all, that Wendy’s first got its start), but its international cuisine is now ready for its close-up. Whether you make a beeline for the overloaded burgers at The Thurman Cafe or decide to try some of the city’s Himalayan food, you’re sure to be welcomed with a nice Midwest greeting and enthusiastic suggestions for where to eat next.”

Here’s the full list of the nation’s friendliest cities:

10. Chicago, IL
9. Alexandria, VA
8. Charleston, SC
7. Columbus, OH
6. Savannah, GA
5. Mobile, AL
4. Greenville, SC
3. Santa Fe, New Mexico
2. Lexington, KY
1. Chattanooga, TN
