After 25 years, local sex shop closes for good

The only female-owned and operated, sex and body positive adult “boutique” announced that after about 27 years of selling lingerie, sex toys, and adult entertainment accessories to Columbus, they’re shutting their doors.

The Garden first opened in the Short North in 1997, fostering a sense of an unapologetically sex positive community for decades, but in 2022, they moved to 5433 Bethel Sawmill Ctr. About two months ago, a sign was posted on their door, written by the Tax Commissioner, saying that The Garden’s license was under suspension, prohibiting them from making retail sales.

Then, yesterday, January 9th, The Garden posted on their social media that they’re permanently closing. “It is with great sadness that we announce The Garden is permanently closed. Thank you for all of the support we’ve had in the community for the past 20+ years. We’ve really enjoyed being the amazing small, alt, queer, and sex positive space that we are,” The Garden’s post said.
