30 year old bagel & deli shop closing this month after landlord not renewing lease

A Downtown staple for bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and a quick lunch wrap is officially closing at the end of the month.

Broad Street Bagels & Deli has been at their 66 E. Broad St. location since 1995 – the vintage sign on the building is almost an institution at this point. But owner Nirali Sheth told 614Now that their landlord has officially decided not to renew the lease, and their last day will be on October 31.

Sheth said they have no plans on relocating the deli. This will be the end of it.

A Facebook post shared last week in the Downtown Residents Association of Columbus said that the landlords of the building, Zion Christian Fellowship, who bought the building in 2018, have some other plans for it, that don’t include Broad Street Bagel & Deli. Zion Christian Fellowship could not be reached for comment.

The post also encourages Columbus to contact local city officials to try to keep Broad Street Bagel & Deli open, and although Sheth appreciates the effort, she said she doesn’t think that will necessarily work.
