614 feast names the most delicious & decadent sandwiches in Columbus
It’s the holiday season, and if there’s ever a time to treat yourself, it’s now! Columbus has some of the most indulgent, comforting sandwiches around, each one packed with bold flavors and creativity. From campus classics to elevated vegan creations, these decadent sandwiches are the perfect way to savor the season.
PJ’s Sandwiches (15 Frambes Ave)
A campus staple known for over-the-top sandwiches that can satisfy any late-night craving. Their “fat sandwiches” are loaded with creative combos, and my favorite is the Fat Carnie Sandwich. It’s piled high with Buffalo tenders, fries, bacon bits, mozzarella sticks, and your choice of bleu cheese or ranch (I go with the bleu cheese). This sandwich is a serious feast.
Seitan’s Realm (3496 N High St)
One of my favorite vegan spots, Seitan’s Realm nails comfort food. I highly recommend the Buffy Mac—a fried seitan chikun patty dipped in house-made buffalo sauce, topped with ranch, pickles, and mac n cheeze, all served on a pretzel bun. This sandwich is packed with flavor and perfect for satisfying any comfort food craving.
The Pearl (641 N High St)
They get creative with specialty burgers every Wednesday, and they’re always a hit. A recent favorite was the Charcuterie Burger—double smash patties topped with gouda, olive tapenade aioli, fried brie, prosciutto, and house-made jalapeño date jam. It’s a delicious mix of flavors that takes a classic burger to the next level.
Pistacia Vera (541 S 3rd St)
For a taste of classic French decadence, try the Croque-Monsieur at Pistacia Vera. Toasted brioche with smoked cottage ham, aged Emmentaler cheese, and Mornay sauce, Dijon mustard and cornichons. To balance the richness, it’s served with mixed greens and a lemon shallot vinaigrette.
Los Agavez Taqueria (multiple)
After watching a Netflix documentary featuring a torta stuffed with tacos, I had to see if Los Agavez could make one. They came through, and it was phenomenal! Their regular torta is already fantastic, with perfect bread and high quality meats and toppings, but the off-menu Torta Taco I tried was one of the best bites I’ve ever had. You can find them at their food truck at 3166 N High St or at the Little Grand Market at 710 Grandview Crossing.
