614 feast rolls out his five favorite bagel sandwiches in Columbus

Nothing beats the comforting bite of a bagel sandwich: the bagel is chewy and dense on the inside, with a crispy shell on the outside, piled high with your favorite toppings. Whether you’re craving a classic or an inventive, loaded creation, these bagel sandwiches are sure to satisfy. Here are five of my favorite bagel sandwiches in Columbus.

The Lox Bagel Shop (772 N High St)

These high-quality, house-made bagels strike the perfect balance between New York and Montreal styles. Each bagel is dense, chewy, and has a fantastic crust, boiled first and then fired in a wood oven. My favorite is the egg & cheese on their everything bagel, add bacon for a major feast.

Bears Bagels (4142 Main St, Hilliard)

These artisanal bagels are made in-house and rested for 24 hours before being boiled and baked to perfection. My go-to is Bear’s Best: a rosemary sea salt bagel with spicy chili crisp schmear, hoisin slab bacon, folded egg, thin green onion, and pickled radish and carrot. It’s as satisfying as it is unique—delicious comfort food at its best.

Block’s Bagels (6115 McNaughten Rd)

A Columbus staple since 1967, Block’s is known for its variety of Kosher bagels and delicious cream cheeses. My pick is the classic Lox & Cream Cheese—a generous serving of lox that could be enough for two… but it’s too good to share! I order mine on an egg everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese for a bit of kick.

Katzinger’s Delicatessen (Dublin, German Village)

A classic New York bagel, try the Here’s Jeanne Again: smoked nova salmon, cream cheese, tomato, and red onion on a garlic bagel from Sammy’s New York Bagel. The bagel is fresh and slightly doughy on the inside, with a softer texture that pairs perfectly with high-quality salmon and a rich schmear.

Cocky’s Bagel Sandwiches (multiple locations)

A “Best of Cleveland” winner for their incredible bagels, Cocky’s has a Columbus location at 1484 N High St. My go-to is the Big Daddy—a loaded cheddar bagel piled high with bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown, garlic herb cream cheese, American cheese, and Cocky’s sauce. It’s a flavor-packed bite that hits the spot every time.
