After 25 years, the owners of this Columbus ice cream shop are retiring, selling business

Following a tenure of more than two decades, Mita and Dilip Shah, the owners of Mardi Gras Homemade Ice Cream, are retiring and handing the business over to new owners.

“To Mardi Gras family, we thank you for over 25 years of  shared memories and happiness!After serving this wonderful community over the past more than couple of decades. We have gotten to know many generations of wonderful families!! We have finally decided to retire and we’ve transited the business over to a group of individuals,” a statement posted to the eatery’s Facebook page reads.

It’s unclear who the new owners are, or if the business will change under new management. Mardi Gras Homemade Ice Cream could not be reached for comment by the time this story was published.

The longtime Northwest Side dessert spot is located at 1947 Hard Rd., and is well-known for serving both ice cream and kulfi–a denser and creamier version of ice cream popular in India and parts of the Middle East–in a wide variety of flavors.

The ice cream shop recently opened for the summer season.
