Alcohol-infused ‘dessert lounge’ opening in Columbus area

A unique twist on the bakery concept—which will offer booze-filled desserts and a bar with mocktails—is opening its first brick and mortar at Creekside Gahanna later this year.

According to owner Candi Francisco, Speakeasy Bakery—a local that has been selling alcohol-infused desserts in Columbus since 2017–will open the doors of their Speakeasy Bakery dessert lounge.

The concept is located at 121 Mill St., STE 104 in Gahanna, and is slated to open this fall.

Currently, Speakeasy Bakery operates out of Dublin’s 1400 Food Lab, and offers pickup only. Its new space, which will be open until 10 p.m., will allow customers to not only stop by in person, they’ll also be able to grab a variety of different mocktails from a bar inside of the bakery.

“We like to say the liquor is in our desserts, not our drinks,” Francisco said.

Customer favorites include Rose Wine Cake, Vanilla Bean Bourbon Cake and their line of soda-inspired cakes which don’t contain alcohol, like their Chocolate Root Beer Cake and Shirley Temple Cake.
