Anticipated craft brewery announces relocation, new opening timeframe

Jack McLaughlin

Columbus craft beer fans who were waiting for the opening of Honest Friend Brewing–the new project from former Seventh Son brewer Chris Carter–will have to wait a bit longer.

According to a video posted to its social media accounts, Honest Friend has relocated, albeit just up the block, from its former home. Previously located at 2140 S. High St., the brewery has moved to 2112 S. High St.

In the video, Carter noted that the new building “will better suit our needs.” It will also position Honest Friend next door to City Winery and The Fort.

The brewery is currently in the process of permitting the new location, and construction is slated to begin soon, according to Carter. In the video, he notes that the Honest Friend team is hoping to open the space before the end of 2024. Its earlier target opening date was this spring.

Alongside Carter are fellow co-owners Will Gutman, a practicing attorney with a passion for craft beer, and artist and designer Kayla Lewis, who will oversee the creative direction and visual content for the brewery.
