Anticipated new restaurant from company behind Hank’s Seafood opens this month

Anticipated new restaurant from company behind Hank’s Seafood opens this month

We can finally soon pretend to be a little Parisian if we can’t find the time (or money) to fly out to Paris or the French Riviera this summer.

Chouette (pronounced ‘shwèt’) told 614Now that they’ll be opening August 13, and reservations are already open if you’re ready to try butter poached lobster linguine, steak frites, and of course, even escargot, all in an atmosphere that transports you straight to a French bistro. Their culinary vision and menu is led by French chef and culinary director Jacques Sorci, a distinguished Maitre Cuisinier de France with over 30 years of French dining experiences in 5-star and Michelin star-rated luxury hotels and restaurants across the U.S. and Europe.

If you’re weary or unfamiliar of French dining, no worries – “We pride ourselves on being an inviting and approachable place where guests of all backgrounds can feel at home,” said Makeready. “Our menu is designed to introduce the richness of French cuisine to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned foodie or new to the world of French flavors.” Check out their menu here.

The highly anticipated French bistro, located at 2 E. Gay St., will specialize in freshly baked bread and pastries, too. “Our warm bread and butter ritual, a cherished tradition, features loaves baked in-house, offering crisp golden crust and a soft, pillowy interior,” Makeready explained. They’ll feature signature churned butter, just like you’d find in France. Only even better – it’s right here in Downtown Columbus.

Guests can expect a selection of mainly French wines and French-inspired cocktails, plus new and classic cocktails.

While initially, the restaurant will only be open for dinner, they’ll be introducing a special lunch & brunch menu in mid-October.

If this place sounds cool, well, yeah, that’s the point. “Our name translates to ‘owl’ in French, but in casual conversation, it also means ‘cool’ or ‘nice!’ We embrace that ambiguity because it evokes both the age-old wisdom and boundless creativity found in France’s culinary culture,” said Makeready.

Makeready, the Dallas-based hospitality group that also operates the already popular restaurant across the street, Hank’s Seafood, is definitely making their name around Columbus. They also manage the popular concepts Little West Tavern, Brass Eye Rooftop Bar, and Maudine’s at the Junto Hotel.

Santé! Cheers! We’re predicting this will be one of Columbus’ hottest restaurants, so make sure you book your reservation here.
