Award-winning coffee roaster announces opening date of first brick & mortar
While people from all over the world have gotten to witness a Columbus coffee roaster take home medal after medal for their extraordinary beans, you’ll soon be able to enjoy a cup of their award-winning coffee, made specifically by them, too.
Bryan Brzozowski first started roasting coffee at his house on a sample roaster. “Things spiraled out of control, in a good way,” he laughed. During the pandemic, he and his wife Beth decided to upgrade to a commercial roaster space, and they started the concept Royal Flamingo Coffee.
Initially, people could only find this coffee at farmers markets, events, and ecommerce. The bright pink bags of coffee are hard to miss! After Royal Flamingo Coffee took home the gold medal for their CM Red Fruits Espresso at the world’s largest coffee competition (The Golden Bean North America), demand understandably grew.

Starting this weekend, you won’t have to brew your own Royal Flamingo Coffee at home! The concept is opening their first permanent coffee shop, tucked away in Natalie’s Pizza in Grandview, sharing a space with the new cocktail bar, I Like It Like That.
By day, you’ll find a serene coffee shop, serving some of the best coffee in the world, quite literally. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, complete with WiFi and even a dog-friendly patio. “I hope it will be a place to have meetings, meet up with friends, bring your family to – our seating caters to anything,” Bryan remarked. By night, the space transforms into the new, trendy cocktail bar, I Like It Like That.
The symbiotic relationship and collaboration between the two concepts “is perfect,” Bryan emphasized. Royal Flamingo will incorporate the cocktail bar’s homemade syrups into their drinks, and there will still be traces of Royal Flamingo Coffee there in the evening even when the bar takes over, with espresso infused in I Like It Like That’s cocktails.
Seasoned, more adventurous coffee drinkers will be able to enjoy carbonic macerations and complex pour overs, but Bryan said the drinks at Royal Flamingo Coffee will also be approachable for those who are new to specialty coffee. For those who simply can’t get enough caffeine, try the Barista Boilermaker – a shot of espresso with a batch brew – or the Barista Breakfast – a shot of espresso, a flat white, and a batch brew.
Try all of this and more starting this Friday, July 5, from 8am-2pm, at 945 King Ave. Moving forward, they’ll be open Wednesdays through Sundays, from 8am-2pm! While you won’t be able to find them popping up at farmers markets anymore for the time being, you can grab a bag of their beans at their retail space located inside their new shop.
