A popular smash burger food truck is about to launch its first-ever physical eatery,

According to co-owner Jared France, Smash Buddies will officially open the doors of its new Brewery District restaurant. The burger spot is located at 460 S. Front St., and will share space with The Velvet Room, a new speakeasy concept.

France, alongside fellow co-owner and West Coast transplant Kole Nuehs, opened the Smash Buddies food truck last June.

Offering a concise menu of smash burgers, grilled cheese smash burgers, tots and drinks, France said the eatery built its brand on not over-complicating a recipe that already works.

And Columbus has responded. Not only is Smash Buddies ready to open a brick and mortar space after just over a year, the eatery also won TriMark’s Best Burger in Columbus contest, which was voted on by restaurant patrons.

“The whole experience has been unreal, we did not expect to be opening a brick and mortar in our first 14 months but the opportunity came up and we jumped on it,” France told 614Now. “We have built an amazing team and are ready to show Columbus what we can do!”
