Local plant-based cafe announces a difficult time ‘keeping the doors swinging’

A local Olde Towne East cafe opened up about their difficulties via social media, letting their customers know that they would be transitioning.

Lifestyle Cafe, located at 891 Oak St., opened in January of 2020, initially serving delicious vegan versions of classic Southern twists, like vegan chicken and waffles made from mushrooms.

After a while, Lifestyle Cafe started incorporating animal-based products into their food options, which didn’t come without commentary from the Columbus vegan community. That being said, the restaurant still considers themselves “plant-based.”

For the past couple of months, Lifestyle Cafe has been operating on limited hours and a limited menu, and they gave an explanation on their Instagram account last week. “It’s been a wild and crazy ride creating the Lifestyle Cafe,” the post said.

Continuing, “I know as of lately we have crazy inconsistent hours. It’s been extremely difficult to navigate these times and keep the doors swinging. As a Chef and business person I am pulled in too many directions and Lifestyle is not the most profitable direction unfortunately.

Chef Shanna Dean (AKA Chef Bae) asked for customers to bear with them as they figure out their next transition. As for now, they’ll be posting when they’re open on Instagram and Facebook, but customers shouldn’t expect their usual open hours from here on forward.
