112 year old Columbus bakery opening second location

Sav McKee

For over a hundred years, a family-owned bakery has been serving sheet cakes, old fashioned donuts, and delectable pastries to the city of Columbus, many of whom make the trek out to the East Side just for these famous treats.

There will soon be another location for this beloved bakery though. Frank X. Resch, the owner of Resch’s Bakery told 614Now that they’ll be expanding to a second location in Gahanna, hopefully opening sometime this spring.

Right now, Resch’s is located at 4061 E. Livingston Ave., where they’ve resided since 1962. “We’re out of room here, and on top of each other work wise,” Frank joked. “Plus, there’s a lack of parking during the holidays.”

Their new location over at 150 N. Hamilton Rd., which used to house a Dollar General, is over twice the size of their current space, and they’ll be moving their production facilities over to Gahanna, as well as offering a huge storefront filled to the brim with their baked goods.

But Frank emphasized that Resch’s will still be located on the East Side too! They’re planning on still offering a storefront there, stocked with their most popular cakes, donuts, and pastries. Until next Spring, Resch’s production and kitchen will remain on Livingston Ave. – so don’t forget to grab that Danish Tree during the holiday season.
