The people of the Fifth by Northwest neighborhood have spoken.

The annual Fifth by Northwest Pizza Crawl, which took place on May 9, named the long-standing Rotolo’s Italian Pizzeria as the area’s best pie.

This marks the second straight year Rotolo’s has taken home the top spot. Other pizzerias, including Dewey’s Pizza, Halwani’s Pizza & Stromboli, Jet’s Pizza, and M.A. Grill & Pizza Restaurant also participated in this year’s crawl.

According to lead volunteer Andrew Gifford, despite the rain, this year saw between 150-200 participants. After visiting and sampling each pizzeria, visitors voted for their favorite eatery.

“I think the fact that it rained and we had decent attendance shows the strong community engagement this event fosters. Hope we get a sunny day next year,” Gifford said, noting that interested eateries for next year’s crawl can reach out to @5xnwpizzacrawl on Instagram.

Rotolo’s, which is located at 1749 W. 5th Ave., first opened in 1974, and has been serving Columbus-style pies for decades. The eatery, easily recognizable by its bright blue awning, was once named a top 10 pizzeria in the country by Los Angeles Magazine.
