Columbus pizzeria planning to get “crazy busy” after visit from Dave Portnoy

Since it opened, Columbus has been singing the praises of Bazemore Pizza Co. And now, Dave Portnoy may be doing the same soon on YouTube,

Portnoy visited Bazemore—which is inside of the Pointe Tavern, located at 1991 Riverside Dr.—before Ohio State’s game against Tennessee on Saturday.

“We knew Dave was going to be in town for the game through his social media. We noticed he was at Emilo’s, which isn’t far from us, which kept us on our toes with the possibility he might be stopping by,” Bazemore co-owner Todd Crow said. “Shortly after, the Standard Cheese ticket came thru, and Billy and I looked at each other and said ’It might be his order.’”

It was.

According to Crow, Portnoy came in shortly after, was friendly and talked with the owners and patrons.

“He went out to the patio and did his review, so we don’t know the score yet, but as everyone was watching him try our craft he kept nodding his head in a very positive way,” Crow said. The review should be up on Portnoy’s hugely-popular and influential “One Bite Pizza Reviews.”

Their review will likely be up in several weeks, meaningful we’ll know when Bazemore knows. When asked why didn’t ask Portnoy himself, Crow noted he “Meant to… but I was kinda star struck.”

The Columbus pizza company had nothing but gratitude for the entire process, and it made them look back at their own beginnings as well.

“First and foremost, Billy and I would like to start off by thanking (owner of the Pointe Tavern) Jimmy Woodland for the opportunity to make [Bazemore Pizza] a reality,” Crow said.
