Columbus spot makes ‘Worldtraveling’ rankings of national pizza chains

Donato’s is one of the cornerstones of Columbus-style pizzas. It’s square-cut, consistent and consistently available throughout the Buckeye State.

The question, though, is about where the hometown pizza restaurant stacks up against the rest of the national pizza chains.

Worldtraveling ranked 26 different national pizza chains from “worst to best,” and Donato’s landed at number 15. The rankings are actually published in reverse order, which places Donato’s among the top of the pack on a national level.

“Donatos, known for its tavern-style pizza from the Midwest, combines traditional thin crust and edge-to-edge toppings with modern dietary trends. In 2022, it introduced a plant-based pepperoni made from peas, potato, and fava beans, offering a spicy taste similar to traditional pepperoni,” the Worldtraveling story reads.

Another Columbus chain, the Toledo-based Marco’s Pizza, landed at number 10. The outlet tapped Chicago’s Uno Pizzeria & Grill as the best of the bunch (number 26), and Your Pie (which doesn’t boast any Ohio locations), as the worst (number 1).
