Columbus spot ranked top 5 “Best New Bars” in entire nation, yet again, by another national publication

You’ve probably heard all about this Brewery District bar ever since they opened a year ago. And it’s definitely for a good reason.

Cobra, located at 684 S. High St., has been making headlines lately. This past summer, they were named one of the top cocktail bars in the nation by The Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, and now, yet another national publication’s contest has named Cobra one of the top 5 Best New Bars in the nation, among bars in NYC, Miami, and San Francisco.

Punch Drink’s esteemed list, which is sponsored by Patron, had to say this about Columbus’ hottest new(ish) bar: “With its studied nonchalance and playful cocktails, Cobra promises a good night, every night.”

“At Cobra, under the direction of co-owners David Yee and Alex Chien (who run the drinks side of the business, and met while working at Watershed Kitchen + Bar) the studied nonchalance that defines the category is imbued with thoughtful, Asian-inspired twists that make familiar cocktail blueprints feel novel,” Punch Drink continued. “Take, for instance, the Above Ground Pool, the bar’s consistent best-seller, which builds on the crushable Margarita mold with additions of both mango and serrano-cilantro cordials, plus a spicy Sichuan salt rim. In keeping with the pared-back interior, there is little fanfare attached to how the drinks are presented. Cobra does not care to win you over with superfluous style, trusting instead that with a Kopiko Espresso Martini in hand and a bowl of housemade dan dan noodles in front of you, it can live up to its slogan and turn any night into a good night.”

See what all the hype’s about yourself. They’re closed on Tuesdays, but open every other night of the week, 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. Oh – and of course they’re known for their drinks, but Cobra also serves up some of the best food in the city, too: Ezzo Pizza Dumplings, Kimchi Bacon Dogs, Dan Dan Noodles, the Shanghai Noon Burger, and so much more.
