Former 101 Beer Kitchen, CMR chef launching first-ever restaurant

A long-time Columbus chef behind a handful of popular local eateries is stepping out on his own for the first time.

Mike Frame, who served as corporate chef of 101 Beer Kitchen for nearly 11 years, as the executive chef and general manager at the Easton location of Bon Vie for a decade, and even as a Cameron Mitchell Restaurants chef in the 1990s, plans to open his first-ever restaurant, Two Rivers, later this year.

The eatery, which is located in the former home of Yabo’s Tacos at 4046 Powell Rd. in Powell, plans to open in mid-June,

“We’ll be serving new American, or regional American cuisine, with twists on classics, lots of craft cocktails, craft beer and lots of wine,” Frame said with a laugh, “My wife is a wine person.”

A resident of Powell for the last 21 years, Frame is making the new restaurant a family affair, as his son, Asher Frame, a recent graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, will be joining the Two Rivers staff.

Michael Frame noted the menu for the new concept is still be created (“The menu is the easy part,” he joked), although he likened the restaurant’s atmosphere to Columbus eateries like Kitchen Social and 101 Beer Kitchen.

“The goal is to have very fresh, scratch-made food that’s accessible and family friendly,” he said.
