Franklin Park-area eatery shutters following ‘unforeseen circumstances;’ former employee hoping to bring it back

Just after three years of operating, a Near East Side eatery has closed, but one former employee is fighting to see that it isn’t a permanent one.

Addella’s on Oak, which was located at 1485 Oak Ave. just south of Franklin Park, closed its doors in late 2023.

It’s unclear exactly when the East Side spot for food and drinks shuttered, but according to a fundraiser for Steph’s Way—the new wing and burger concept from former Addella’s employee Steph’Von Covington—Addella’s, or something like it, may still make a comeback.

Covington told 614Now yesterday that this plan is still in place.

“Steph has a dream of reopening Addella’s on Oak and rebranding or finding a new location to continue on. He has the skills, passion, and vision to make it happen, but he needs your help to get there,” the GoFundMe page reads, “I’m reaching out to you, the people who know and love Steph and Robyn, to ask for your generosity.”

The page was created in late 2023, and at the time this story was published, had raised $260 of its $5,000 goal.
