Highly anticipated Charleston-based seafood restaurant opening this month
The highly acclaimed, award-winning Charleston-based restaurant, Hank’s Low Country Seafood & Raw Bar, is opening their second location in Downtown Columbus this month. The restaurant that’s been voted Charleston’s Best Seafood for decades is coming to 6 W. Gay St., right in the heart of Downtown Columbus.
Guests can start making online reservations here for their grand opening night, starting April 23. Hank’s will be open for dinner service only, Sunday-Thursday from 5pm to 10pm, and Friday and Saturday, 5pm-10:30pm.
Guests can anticipate Hank’s iconic, signature, sustainably sourced seafood dishes, such as a full raw bar with freshly shucked oysters, plus their freshly caught dishes such as the Seafood à la Wando, Jumbo Lump Crab Cocktail, Bouillabaisse and the pan seared daily fresh seafood option.

Enjoy these dishes alongside their innovative cocktails, all in a gorgeous atmosphere designed by famous interior design firm, Home Studios. The restaurant will boast 17-foot ceilings that “lend an air of grandeur,” with warm, wood paneling, creating an inviting, cozy atmosphere, accented by brass fixtures, arched entryways, and an outdoor patio. In the middle of the restaurant will be an expansive bar, as well as a dedicated Raw Bar for shucking oysters. Oh, and if you prefer some privacy, or you’re looking for a large yet intimate experience, nestled at the back of the restaurant is a private dining room for up to 22 guests.
Makeready and Columbus-based Rockbridge acquired Hank’s in 2017 after purchasing the brand. “In its expansion, the goal for the Columbus location is to embody the values and traditions that have made Hank’s Seafood a beloved institution in the South,” said Makeready. Makeready also manages other independent ventures, such as Little West Tavern, Brass Eye Rooftop Bar, and Maudine’s, all at The Junto at 77 Belle St. in Columbus.
“Hank’s Seafood is a Charleston tradition, and we couldn’t be prouder to open the second location in Columbus,” said McMahon. “Our team has been captivated by the spirit of this city and the people for years, and the opportunity to establish a presence here was one we eagerly embraced…we look forward to creating memorable experiences and contributing to the dynamic energy of Downtown Columbus.”
