Hot Chicken Takeover’s new owner bringing back free sweet tea & unlimited ranch – here’s when

With the announcement that Hot Chicken Takeover was acquired by a new company once again, we know what you’re all wondering – will free ranch & sweet tea be offered, for old time’s sake?

“I’m bringing all of that back,” said Gregg Majewski, CEO of Craveworthy Brands, which recently acquired the iconic Columbus hot chicken concept.

Majewski emphasized that when founder of HCT, Joe DeLoss, first started the restaurant, “he created something that was extremely special. Exceptional food, free tea, free ranch – things people weren’t doing at the time.”

He acknowledged that when Untamed bought HCT a couple of years ago in 2021, they took away its cultural identity, not knowing how important something as simple as free tea and ranch could be to the brand. But Majewski and Craveworthy Brands is ready to bring back the Southern Hospitality the brand was originally built on.

Along with bringing back free tea and free ranch, more menu options will be offered, such as mashed potatoes and chicken sandwiches, as well as combo meal options.

“We’re bringing back Joe’s vision, but with some add-ons,” said Majewski.

They’re also sticking to HCT’s philosophy of fair chance employment. “My big thing is I believe the restaurant industry is the prime example of second chances, and giving people a new opportunity to get to a new level,” Majewski told 614Now. “My goal is to make people millionaires. If you work for me, and level up and become a franchisee, we’ll go ahead and give you a kickstart to become a millionaire.”

So, when will these changes happen, exactly? Majewski said you can expect that sweet, sweet, free tea available sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. And as for the ranch, there won’t be unlimited pumping stations like the good ol’ days, but you can request as many ranch cups as you’d like.
