Local barista of popular coffee shop takes home first place at latte art world championship

Some artists use paint, some use ink, and well, some even use espresso & milk.

A huge congratulations to Haley Henderson, barista and head of retail operations at Brioso Coffee, who’s showing the world that Columbus isn’t just a beer city – our local baristas can make a mean latte – and most importantly, in this world of Instagram, a beautiful latte, too.

She took home first place this month at the Latte Art World Championship Open at the renowned Coffee Fest, located in New York City. This Coffee Fest remains the coffee industry’s top performing shows, according to their website.

Brioso Coffee took to their Instagram to show their support for their beloved barista. “We are so excited and proud to share with Columbus that we are now home to the @coffeefestshow World Latte Art Champion this past week in New York City! @_haleyhenderson has been competing as a latte artist for nearly 7 years and it was finally her year. She poured heaters every time during the three day tournament and took it to number one!!” they said.

We may just put on a lid on our latte in a rush right after the barista pours it for us, but just remember – latte art is a form of art, and many baristas spend years trying to perfect a heart or rosette in the form of a drink.
