Local cheesesteak concept opening North Market location

Marlow’s Cheesesteaks continues its expansion throughout central Ohio with a new location inside the North Market Downtown.

The authentic cheesesteak spot plans to open inside the North Market by mid-October, although an exact date has not been announced.

Created by Philadelphia natives Jomar and Shannika Sheppard, the eatery offers cheesesteaks, fries and even water ice, a Philadelphia-born dessert similar to snow cones, only with a richer, creamier texture.

Their most popular cheesesteak, the Marlow, features steak, cheese whiz, provolone cheese, sauteed onions, mushrooms, hot peppers, mayo and spicy mustard.

Marlow’s, which first opened in 2021 as a food trailer, has since expanded to a brick and mortar restaurant in Gahanna, Budd Dairy Food Hall and even Ohio Stadium. The eatery will take over the North Market space formerly occupied by Willowbeez SoulVeg.

“The North Market is an iconic place in Columbus Ohio that has been a part of the city for 148 years and we are honored and excited about the opportunity to partner with North Market and further expand our footprint and services to Downtown Columbus,” Shanika Sheppard said in a press release. “We have been serving up our Cheesesteaks since 2021, and for us to receive an opportunity to share a part of our hometown with Central Ohio is a blessing.”
