Local chef opens new restaurant concept, combining Chinese & Indian food all in one
Some people’s dreams have come true – not having to choose between Chinese or Indian food on a night out.
All thanks to Chef and owner Anand Kumar, who just opened Awadh Indochinese this week at 6181 Sawmill Road. Chef Kumar has over 20 years of experience in this cuisine, graduating from culinary school in 1997, and specializing specifically in this Indo-Chinese cuisine when he worked as the chef of a five-star restaurant in New Delhi.

“It’s my pleasure to bring these special recipes to the United States and share these exquisite meals with very special people,” he said on his website. “I am very honored to bring all the real tastes of ‘Awadh’ to this restaurant in Columbus. Please allow yourself to be enveloped with aromatic spices, pure meats without antibiotics, and homemade Naan and Lassi.”
Chef Kumar already owns and operates Awadh India Restaurant, a popular spot for authentic Indian cuisine that includes an Indian lunch buffet, located at 2584 Bethel Rd., plus another Indian food concept, called Awadh, over in Powell, also complete with a buffet.
This new concept, however, will combine all of his Indian specialties with more Chinese options, such as stir-fried noodles and Asian style vegetables.
Awadh Indochinese is officially in their soft opening phase, open Monday-Sunday, 11am-9pm. Go check them out!
