Local pizzeria has the best pies in Ohio, according to national publication
2024 reviews are in at the Lovefood team, and turns out, the absolute best pizza in Ohio can be found right on the corner of High St. and Fifth Ave.
And surprisingly, this number #1 pizza spot doesn’t serve traditional, Columbus-style pizza. Actually, they’re known for quite the opposite – a Neapolitan pie, made from homemade dough, and baked right in a classic Napoli oven.
Ohio’s best pizza joint in 2024, based on genuine user reviews, awards and accolades, and first-hand experience from the Lovefood employees, is Paulie Gee’s Short North.

Lovefood especially likes Paulie Gee’s spicy takes on pizza. They said, “If you love spicy pizza, Paulie Gee’s in Columbus is the spot for you. There’s a wide menu featuring super-crispy pizza squares, whole pizzas, and vegan versions. Spice fans should try the Hellboy – with tomatoes, hot salami, mozzarella, Parmesan, and honey – or the Hellified Porkpie White, with mozzarella, hot salami, spicy sausage, basil, red onions, sliced garlic, and honey.”
Paulie Gee’s is located at 1195 North High St., and they’re open Tue-Thurs, 5pm-10pm, Fri-Sat, 4pm-10pm, and Sundays, 4pm-9pm. You can get your pies to-go, or enjoy them right there at the restaurant, with vintage-inspired, red & white checkered tablecloths.
