This hi-tech vending machine offering burgers, donuts and more is for dogs only
At first glance, it looks just like a commercial refrigerator. But looks can be deceiving.
Located for public use in the Hills Market Downtown, the Boujee Dog Bites vending machine features everything from hamburgers for dogs, to pup-friendly chicken tacos, meatballs, ice cream and more.
According to Boujee Dog Bites owner Alyssa Steigerwalt, the company (which creates gourmet meals and treats for dogs), utilizes a FoodSpot smart refrigerator in the marketplace, which can immediately detect which items (and how many of them) were removed, and accurately charge the customer.

Patrons simply need to tap or insert their cards at the machine’s POS system, and the fridge door will open. Once they remove what they want and close the fridge, their cards will be automatically billed.
“In Asia and Europe there are a lot of smart fridges, they know what’s inside and what you take out of them. They provide easy, grab and go access,” Steigerwalt said. “You still don’t see many over here, yet, outside of airports.”
The machine launched roughly two years ago, and Steigerwalt refers to it as an “experiential” way to grab food or some treats for your dog (depending on their size).
“It’s not just treats for dogs, it’s also for owners, it’s something new and they’re experiencing it together,” she said. “A lot of people get takeout for themselves and then can come to our vending machine to get the same thing for their dog.”
