‘More than a sports bar:’ New 40-TV hotspot opens in Grandview
Get ready, Columbus—Draft Day’s opening is almost here, and it’s taking over the former Smokehouse Brewing spot on 1130 Dublin Road with a blend of history, high-energy sports, and true community spirit. Founder TJ Valentino is set on making this new Grandview sports bar a place where everyone feels right at home.
With 40 screens mounted on the walls, and a jumbotron in their ‘center court’ area, Draft Day is built for serious sports viewing, covering everything from football to basketball, soccer, and beyond. But this isn’t just about catching the game—it’s about creating a space that feels like a second home, whether you’re a die-hard fan or just in it for the vibes.
“This is going to be more than just a sports bar,” shared Valentino. “We want to bring back a sense of community that Columbus has been missing. There will be something for everyone here, even if sports aren’t your thing.”

Walking into Draft Day, you’ll feel a modern refresh but also a respectful nod to the location’s roots. “We kept the original bar, just gave it a fresh coat of black paint,” Valentino explained. “It’s a way to honor the space’s history while making it our own.” The bar itself now has a fresh, sleek look, but still carries that same vintage charm, a respectful homage to both the Smokehouse Brewing days and the steakhouse era before that.
Valentino’s enthusiasm for this location was immediate. “I saw that Smokehouse was closing, and within days, I was walking through the doors,” he explained. “As soon as I saw the place, I knew it was meant to be Draft Day’s home.” And it’s not hard to see why. The spacious layout and prime location make it the perfect spot for more than just sports. With plans for community events, concerts, and local markets, Draft Day is designed as a versatile gathering place.
Beyond the games, Draft Day aims to bring people together. “The size of the space and the parking lot allow us to create something big,” Valentino added. “It’s about bringing people together, giving back to Columbus, and making this space a hub for the community.”
Mark your calendars—Draft Day opens this November, and whether you’re coming for the games, the events, or just a great local hangout, it’s a spot Columbus has been waiting for.
