Must-try Ohio eatery considered one of the ’10 Most Historic Restaurants in U.S.’ by Yelp

What do Charles Dickens, George W. Bush, Annie Oakley, and the pop star Kesha all have in common?

They’ve visited one of the oldest restaurants not only in Ohio, but in the nation.

Yelp recently compiled a list of the 10 Most Historic Restaurants in the U.S., and Ohio’s own Golden Lamb in Lebanon, OH was featured.

The Golden Lamb, an Ohio favorite for centuries, opened in 1803 and was initially known as The Lebanon Hotel. Since, it’s hosted a dozen commanders in chief and politicians who found the restaurant and hotel a “layover point” between Cincinnati and the National Road! The restaurant even became a campaign stop in the battleground state of Ohio.

Yelp noted that in the 1800s, shooter Annie Oakley sold meat to the restaurant. Now, the majority of their food is sourced from the restaurant’s 350-acre farm and other local farmers.

Guests are fond of the historical setting, with antique decor in the quaint space, and the array of classic staples like Ohio Fried Chicken, Dijon-Crusted Braised Short Rib, and Shepherd’s Pie.

Upstairs, guests can even stay in a gorgeous room at their boutique hotel! Former first lady Barbara Bush has even slept there.

Yelp considers this restaurant a must-visit, and it’s easy to see why.
