National mochi donut chain featuring soft serve & Korean hotdogs coming to Cbus

Sav McKee

Pistachio donuts, potato dusted Korean corn dogs, and melon soft serve are all making their way to Columbus.

According to their website and a “Coming Soon” sign, Mochinut, a popular national chain known for Korean donuts, hotdogs, and soft serve, is opening soon at 994 W. 5th Ave.

For those who aren’t familiar with Mochi Donuts, these stretchy and chewy donuts that come in unique flavors are made with rice flour, creating a textural element that’s completely different from a yeast or cake donut. Eight dough balls are connected to each other in a ring-shape.

It’s unclear when the new shop will open, but the website’s menu definitely gets us excited. They’ll offer dozens of donut flavors, ranging from banana milk to matcha, plus crispy Korean hotdogs coated in a topping of your choice (ramen, Hot Cheetos, cereal, potato, etc.). Their soft serve appears to be a huge hit too, with featured flavors like strawberry lemon, honey butter, and melon. Some locations include a Mochinut-Ball, which is almost like a cream puff – fingers crossed the Columbus location will offer them!
