National sports themed restaurant & bar opening in former ‘Melt’ space next month
A new, high-energy entertainment hub with an award winning chef, all in the heart of the Short North Arts District, announced they’ll be opening next month, after much anticipation.
Last November, news broke that the national sports bar & restaurant chain, called DraftKings Sports & Social, would be making its way to Columbus in the former space that once housed Melt, located at 840 N. High St.
Now, it’s almost ready to place your bets and grab some burgers. Sports & Social is officially opening on Thursday, May 9, starting at 9pm. The party stops until they close at 2am!
The Columbus opening will mark the third location for this concept, with the others located in Troy, MI (right outside of Detroit) and in Downtown Nashville.
“DraftKings Sports & Social will become the perfect spot to grab a beer, socialize with friends, enjoy a bite to eat, have a fun night out or watch a game. Guests will be able to enjoy a scratch-made menu of elevated bar fare for lunch, dinner and late night, happy hour and late-night parties, a variety of monthly events and promotions, interactive social games including Beirut, as well as a premier live sports viewing and wagering experience,” said their press release.
This 5,500 square foot bar and restaurant will be surrounded by a 37-foot LED media wall, along with 20 additional HDTVs, allowing guests to watch multiple games and sporting events all at once. If you’re wondering what a game day at Sports & Social would look like, their spokesperson said it’s “electric, and will become one of the best sports viewing experiences in the region for major collegiate, professional, and national sporting events.” They plan to highlight Ohio State Athletics, Columbus Blue Jackets, the Columbus Crew, too.

Their menu, curated by James Beard Award Nominee Chef John Suley, will feature made-from-scratch spicy tuna bites, chicken-bacon ranch soft crunch tacos, Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, and even Philly cheesesteaks and loaded nachos, among other items. Their drink menu features 30 local and national beers and specialty cocktails, too.
